JANUARY 3 – 10, 2026

The Mexican Riviera Winter Fiesta Cruise sounds like a fantastic way to spend the winter months! This type of cruise typically features stops at some of Mexico’s most iconic coastal destinations, all while offering a festive and tropical atmosphere on board.

1. Destinations Along the Mexican Riviera

The Mexican Riviera spans the Pacific coast of Mexico, offering some stunning beaches and vibrant cities to visit. Common ports of call on a Winter Fiesta Cruise may include:

  • Puerto Vallarta: A beautiful resort town known for its cobblestone streets, charming colonial architecture, and stunning beaches.
  • Mazatlán: Often referred to as the “Pearl of the Pacific,” Mazatlán boasts a long coastline, historic center, and excellent seafood.
  • Cabo San Lucas: Famous for its dramatic coastal scenery, including the iconic El Arco rock formation, and a lively nightlife scene.

About the Educator:  Veronica Cox – Quiltsmart Certified Educator

Veronica is the owner of Bear Thread Designs, Inc. and has traveled extensively, teaching the art of fusible appliqué, using The Appliqué Pressing Sheet™. She has demonstrated the technique at quilt shows, guild meetings and cruises.

Veronica was taught to sew by her grandma at the age of 4. Her first project was to sew a button and from there, her projects grew. She learned to machine sew by accidentally sewing over her finger and has since learned the right way to use a sewing machine. Growing up she made most of her own clothes, and enjoyed making clothes for her children when they were growing up. In 1990 she was introduced to quilting by her mother-in-law and was hooked. Since then, she has taught many classes and workshops.

She is the owner of Bear Thread Designs, Inc. which is the manufacturer of The Applique Pressing Sheet ™, Grip-n-Press™, Grip-n-Grip, The Angelina Sheet, Stick-n-Press and Sew Clean. Our products were first featured in Miniature Quilts Magazine and have also been seen in mediums such as, Sewing & Embroidery Professionals, Round Bobbin’s Newsletter, Fons & Porter’s Love of Quilting and Quiltmaker. Veronica has appeared on American Quilts Creatively on 8 different shows as well as being featured on QNN. The Appliqué Pressing Sheet has also been featured on many HGTV programs and has been used and endorsed by many quilting personalities such as, Sue Hausmann of America Sews and America Quilts Creatively, Debbie Mumm of Mumm’s the Word, McKenna Ryan of Pine Needle Designs and Linda Simmons of Sulky. In the winter of 2001,

Veronica was the judge for the Liberty County Go-Texan Quilt Competition in which the winner went on to compete at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. She has judged the Red Dress competition for Janome Sewing Machines, as well as their White on White and Embellishment contests in 2007. In 2008 she judged the Batson Oil Patch Quilt Show. In 2002, she demonstrated “Fun with Fusible”, the art of fusible appliqué, on the Round Bobbin Cruise to the Mexican Rivera and returned to demo and teach for the 2003, 2005 thru the 2014 cruises.

In 2007 Veronica was the coordinator for the fashion show featuring the release of Quilting Treasures new fabric line, The Wizard of Oz. She had 3 beaded garments in the fashion show. Veronica currently teaches at stores in the Houston area.
