About the Educator: Shirley Gubatan

Shirley Gubatan is a Certified Laura Heine Collage Instructor from Warrenton, VA.

Shirley was born and raised in the Bay Area of California and has been sewing and creating for more than 40 years. Fifteen years ago, she jumped into the quilting world with both feet! Since then, Shirley has used an array of techniques to produce numerous quilts (of various designs and patterns). For several years, Shirley has been a quilting and needlework judge at various fairs and shows. In addition to quilting, Shirley enjoys creating quilting collages and hand making bags. She is a certified Laura Heine Collage technique instructor and has taught those classes from coast to coast.

About the Project

Shirley will be teaching the main project, titled Margarita Glass, which is fitting for being on a Caribbean cruise. She also will be teaching a bonus project, the fun Tote Bag, so you have something to carry your project materials around, or simply to use for Island Shopping.

Actual fabrics and colors may be different than shown in photos.

Stay Salty by Laura Heine

Shake up your quilting routine! Celebrate the cruise life with this festive, margarita-themed collage quilt. Whether displayed in your kitchen or living room, it’s sure to keep the vacation memories alive long after we dock. Finishes at 27” x 35 ½”.

Head’n Out Tote Bag – Bonus Project

Grab your gear and get ready to explore! This beginner-friendly, roomy tote is the ultimate companion for every port stop on our cruise. Featuring a handy back pocket and two interior pockets, it offers plenty of space for all your shore excursion treasures. Best of all, you’ll master easy, fool-proof curves and fusible appliqué to stitch it together with total confidence!

HOME AWAY FROM HOME: HOLLAND AMERICA EURODAM

Launched in 2008 and refreshed in early 2023, this Holland America Line vessel still delivers the line’s trademark strengths: gracious service, strong food, and a calm onboard atmosphere.
